Nowhere else in Africa will you find a more alluring waterfront residential complex. The Marina islands are linked by arched bridges across the canals affording navigational ease for craft moving around the Marina. Each residential property has canal water frontage which provides access by boat to the main Kowie River (navigable for approximately 25km) and also out to sea. The water within the Marina is tidal and flows through two entrances/exits thereby ensuring that it is completely flushed twice every day.

A variety of elegant and comfortable homes grace this unusual residential estate. Each property has at least 15m water frontage with perpetual rights to its own private walk-on jetty and mooring for the owner's watercraft. The canals are walled in natural stone and are on average 50m wide and 3,5m deep, giving direct access to the Kowie River and the small boat harbour.

Each year the Royal Alfred Marina Home Owners Association (RAMHOA) invests significant amounts in maintaining and enhancing infrastructure. A full-time manager and her team manage the upkeep of the estate's roads and boundaries, the four bridges connecting the islands, security systems, waterways and the dredging of the canals. The team also manages the recreational facilities including the tennis court, squash court, swimming pool and clubhouse, and provides residents with recycling and garden services.

The fact that property values have continuously climbed since the Marina was first launched in 1989 is clear evidence of the success of this ongoing commitment to excellence.

Our philsophy is one of diversity, and this is reflected in the housing on the Marina. Homes range in size from small single-storeys suitable for retirees, or as holiday retreats, to huge mansions almost as big as boutique hotels.

A Marina home of any size is an excellent investment. There are comparatively few vacant stands still available for sale but before long all will be developed. As the Marina can't be extended, scarcity in the future is inevitably going to keep prices rising.
